Saunders® Lumbar Traction Device

The Saunders Lumbar Traction device is the first home pneumatic traction device specifically designed to deliver up to 200 lbs force.  The new and improved version continues Duane Saunders' 30 year legacy as the premier developer of innovative traction equipment.

Mr. Saunders' latest design allows traction to be performed on the patient's bed. Enhanced comfort and portability features have also been incorporated.

Lumbar traction can be delivered in either the supine or prone position, on a friction-free, actively moving surface. These advanced features allow true replication of clinical traction treatments.

The new Saunders Lumbar Traction device greatly enhances patient compliance and satisfaction. Never has lumbar traction at home been so convenient and effective.

Q: How is the Saunders Lumbar Traction device different from other home traction devices?
A: The new innovative design allows traction treatments to be performed on a bed. This means that a patient with back pain does not have to stoop down to the floor before and after treatment.
Q: What is the maximum circumference of the belts?
A: The belts will fit a circumference up to 60 inches. A Belt Extension Kit is also available.
Q: What is the maximum amount of traction force available?
A: Maximum traction force is 200 pounds. The Pressure Relief Valve will not allow the force to exceed this level.
Q: What is the value of a Pump/Gauge combination?
A: The hand-held pump allows smooth traction to be applied to the lower back. The gauge allows the patient to consistently monitor the traction force recommended by their health care professional.
Q: Why is a friction-free, split surface design so important?
A: The unique design of the Saunders Lumbar Traction device allows the sliding surface plate to separate from the base, producing a split table movement like most clinical traction tables. Because the patient is anchored to the sliding surface via non-slip harnesses, traction is extremely efficient - the patient is not being pulled across the surface like other portable traction devices (and some clinical tables).
Q: How much traction should I use?
A: A patient should ALWAYS consult their health care professional for treatment advice regarding force levels and treatments.
Q: Can treatment be performed in the Prone (lying on stomach) position?
A: Yes. Assistance from another person is required. Refer to the User’s Guide.
Q: How much does the Saunders Lumbar device weigh?
A: At 24 pounds (with case), the Saunders Lumbar is lightweight, sturdy and can be easily transported via the detachable wheels.
Q: What is the warranty?
A: One (1) year warranty against defects in material or workmanship. We will repair, replace or refund the purchase price.
